When gypsum loses its water part, it types the mineral anhydrite (CaSO4). When anhydrite absorbs h2o it gets to be gypsum. This simplicity of exchange is the basis of gypsum’s use in plaster. Consequently, The 2 minerals are very similar to each other and so are only very easily distinguished
